Pieter and Dominique Collin assisted the ‘Namgis First Nation with resolving its most pressing housing problems: accessing capital for new home construction and for repairs of existing housing stock. The nation wanted to achieve a number of objectives, including: introducing more effective and business-like management of Band-owned housing; understanding the current financial situation of its Housing Loan Fund, including its arrears; improving the Housing Loan Fund’s operating procedures and policies; and making changes to land tenure, property title, and loan security options to support access to capital solutions, which will eventually allow the creation of an internal housing market.
